Rest, renew, and eat another hot cross bun.
Tales from the Oak Table 16/52
A little invitation to pause, breathe, and come back to yourself amidst the weekend bustle.
Between the egg hunts, the meal prep, and whatever Easter Bunny magic is weaving through your home, this is your gentle reminder that you matter too.
Maybe you’ve been organising the family meal, planning crafts, topping up the chocolate stash, and keeping the magic alive. It’s a beautiful thing to do, but it’s also okay to feel a little weary.
So over the next two days, amongst the joy and celebration, try to carve out a few moments just for you. They don’t have to be grand or long. Just something to re-centre, refill your cup, and give you space to be.
Simple Moments Just for You:
Run a daytime bath. Light a candle, shut the door, and soak in the quiet. Let your shoulders drop.
Read something just for you. A few pages of a book, a favourite magazine, or a Substack you love. Pop a vase of flowers nearby and curl up somewhere cosy.
Watch something you enjoy. A light-hearted series or feel-good film, early in the day, before the house gets busy. Or save it for a slow evening wind-down.
Ask for help. Let someone else wash up. Suggest a “10-minute tidy” for everyone to join in on, it brings calm to the space and lightens the load.
Step outside. Even just for a few minutes. Let your face feel the breeze, notice what’s growing, and maybe dream about your spring garden.
Say no to something. If there’s an invite, a tradition, or an expectation that’s tipping you into overwhelm, let it go this time. Easter doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful.

What do I want this weekend to feel like?
Rather than a checklist of things to do, focus on the feelings you want to cultivate.
What part of me needs tending right now?
Tired? Overstimulated? In need of quiet? What small thing could honour that?
Where did I feel most present today?
Notice the moments when time slowed down. A giggle from a child, sunlight on a table, a shared glance, a quiet cup of tea.
What do I want to carry forward into next week?
A slower rhythm? a tweak to routine? to walk more? Let it come with you.
Easter doesn’t come with the pressure of presents, and maybe that’s the gift in itself.
It invites us to rest. To notice the bloom. To laugh around a table. To eat something delicious.
To pause for a quiet moment with a warm hot cross bun, or unwrap a chocolate egg in peace. Here’s to small joys, quiet moments, and making space for you, too.
If a paid membership isn’t for you, but you appreciate my work, you can still support it by donating the cost of a cup of coffee. Because the beauty of everyday moments deserves to be shared, your support helps me keep writing, reflecting, and celebrating the small things that make life meaningful.
